Introducing… Basement Revolver

Introducing… Basement Revolver, a trio fro Hamilton, Ontario. The trio combine a lucid concoction of indie rock, alternative rock and shoegaze. This is combined with the incredibly dreamy and passionate voice of Chrisy Hurn makes for a foundation to the trio’s music that is instantly infectious. The trio have just released their latest single “Baby” which sets the precedent for their upcoming album out in the summer. On the song, vocalist Chrisy Hurn states “Baby is about feeling sad and down even though you are generally happy about everything and everyone in your life. It’s about feeling confused about what I want in life, and how that affects other people. It is about crying a lot and feeling like I was burdening my partner with those questions. It is also about my tendency to retreat when things get too overwhelming, to spend all day and night in my bed and watching netflix and eating doritos.” She continues by saying “Baby was written at a point in my relationship where I was so happy with my partner and with the things in my life at that point – but I felt an overall dissatisfaction and sadness that I couldn’t explain. I’d be having a really nice date, and I would start crying, and I didn’t know why. Sadness was just there, sitting with me in uncertainty. So I dealt with it by trying to sleep it off, or hanging out on my own. I felt like this depressive state was affecting those around me in a negative way and I felt guilty about that. So yeah, the chorus on this one pretty much states clearly how I was feeling – “Baby I’m so sorry, I’m trying my best to figure this out, I swear that I’m so happy, this crying won’t fix what’s already broken and dead, just give me some time”.” Though not specifically mentioned here there is a message that will translate to many others of today’s youth and that is one of depression. An honest and open account here from Basement Revolver and one that is sure to stir the emotions. Ultimately it is honest songs like this that help to show people that you are not alone, it bridges the gap between the band and the fan and will aid in creating a fantastic rapport between the two. The band’s new album Heavy Eyes is out August 24th via Sonic Unyon (North America) & fear of missing out (UK) and features “Baby”. Check out the song for yourself below: Facebook: /basementrevolver
