Taking place at La Farga de l’Hospitalet on the outskirts of Barcelona between 6th – 9th October, the festival features some of the finest talent in post, prog, math and experimental music. This year’s instalment of the festival is topped by the pioneering collective Godspeed You! Black Emperor, the Swedish juggernauts Cult Of Luna, the murderous darkwave antihero Carpenter Brut, modern day trailblazers Deafheaven and Lingua Ignota, one of the most important names in cerebral extremity.
Also featuring across the long weekend are Pallbearer, TWDY (previously known as This Will Destroy You), Anna von Hausswolf, Oranssi Pazuzu, Caspian, Elder, Tricot, Meat Puppets, GGGOLDDD, A.A Williams, Svalbard, Aiming For Enrike, Za! Vs 13 Year Cicada, Midwife, Slow Crush, Irist, Birds In Row, Foxtails, Ikarie, Lili Refrain, Maud the Moth, Nara Is Neus and Arima.
Originally starting life as Aloud Music Festival in 2013, AMFest has grown exponentially over the years and has become akin to the Spanish equivalent of ArcTanGent, with acts such as Alcest, Mono, Brutus and 65DaysOfStatic performing in recent years. Now with the international touring back on the cards, the festival has truly pulled all the stops and secured what is essentially one of the strongest lineups for all things progressive and experimental.
“We have been working at this edition for 3 years now”, state the organisers. “It was supposed to be the most ambitious edition of AMFest already in 2020 and the pandemic just increased our desire to make this AMFest the greatest edition ever and something we will never forget. The lineup is pretty close to what we would define as “a dream come true”. If somebody told us we would have some of these names with us when we started in 2013 we would have laughed, or cried. It will be an honor to work with La Farga de l’Hospitalet for the first time and we are looking forward to see many fans from the UK and Ireland coming over and having a wonderful weekend in sunny Barcelona in October”
