Better Lovers, Joyce, Fit For An Autopsy and More: New Noizze – The 11 Must-Listen Tracks of The Week

You know the deal, here's the best singles of the week.

Better Lovers – Future Myopia

Better Lovers are back with an insanely catchy and hard hitting new single titled ‘Future Myopia’. The newest single off the much anticipated new album Highly Irresponsible; the nearly 4 minute track consists of incredible guitars fitting for the duo of Will Putney and Jordan Buckley. Vocalist Greg Puciato also delivers in full behind the mic with some excellent vocal deliveries. From screams to melodies; he simply did not miss the entire track. This track has it all and more which comes to no surprise to anyone. Better Lovers are managing to age like fine wine, dropping nothing but good song after good song. – Nathaniel Maure

Joyce – Hum Hotline

The latest single to be taken from the upcoming record Voyce – released September 13th via Human Worth – ‘Hum Hotline’ see’s the nine-piece collective Joyce looking through a kaleidoscopic mirage of turn-of-the-century indie, spoken word and granulating noise rock. Fronted by former olympian and OG running punk Jimmy Watkins, ‘Hum Hotline’ is a brilliant introduction to a band that just seems to defy convention and exception, even in a genre and scene where experimentation is expected. Whilst many may be drawn to this band out of curiosity, it’s impossible not to be excited by this project with songs like this. – Dan Hillier

The Hell – Name Yer Poison

Everyone’s favorite cockney masked scamps The Hell have been getting more and more active over the last few months, with new tracks and shows letting everyone know they ain’t dead. Announced in classic The Hell fashion (a rambling, sweary Instagram video) their newest slab of cheeky, chunky hardcore is Name Yer Poison and it’s – naturally – about booze. If you don’t know what to expect from The Hell by now, it’s short, to the point and contains as much groove as Elvis Presley shaking those damn hips of his at a Machine Head show. It’s an anthem about getting absolutely sloshed with lines like “We’ll be fucked by the end of the night”, it’s the perfect pre-beverage hype up tune. With a new EP containing even more laverrly jubbly tracks coming out just next week, it feels facking cushty to be a The Hell fan right now. – Chris Earl

Fit For An Autopsy – Savior of None / Ashes of All

Fit For An Autopsy‘s second single from their highly-anticipated upcoming full length shows off the band’s talent for balancing beauty and brutality. Similar to the previous single ‘Hostage’, ‘Savior of None/Ashes of All’ leans into metalcore while staying true to the Gojira-esque sound that put the band on the map. Gorgeous cleans stack up against a backdrop of melodic guitar passages rapid drums; a fantastic atmosphere washing over the listener. You may even be lulled into a false sense of security, but don’t think the danger has gone away – a meaty breakdown awaits in the middle of the track, guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. Fans of all subgenres unite – one of the most exciting bands in metal is at it again. – Jude Bennett

Ex-Girlfriend – Renegades

Ex-Girlfriend, the punk rock queen of Brighton’s drag scene, has released their debut single ‘Renegades’ and it’s just as much a supercharged anthem as it is a call to arms. No stranger to the UK rock scene, having fronted successful rock outfit They Say Fall from 2010 until 2019 (Bad Machines from 2017 onwards). Moving to Brighton and embracing their queerness, combining that with their love of emo music and striking the perfect balance between the two has helped to shape this brilliantly authentic persona for Ex-Girlfriend, named after the No Doubt classic. ‘Renegades’ therefore feels like the culmination of what they have set out to achieve here, unison through uniqueness; it feels accomplished, brave and largely liberating. The song features Will Fox who supported the artistic vision, production and overall creative process as well as fellow artist Alex Fincher who provides guest vocals. Fincher and Ex-Girlfriend both showcase incredible vocal dexterity and an impressive range but most importantly ‘Renegades’ feels like an outpouring of love and acceptance. If you like pop rock that has the punch of Fightstar and the hooks of Blink 182 then you’ll love this. This is Ex-Girlfriend’s nation and you’re all invited. – Jac Holloway

Solsic – Who Will You Blame

When it comes to Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario’s alternative music scene; Solsic have swiftly become hometown heroes releasing nothing but spectacular tunes since their inception. Continuing the trend with ‘Who Will You Blame’, the alternative four piece blends nu metal with the heavy hitting tropes of hardcore and metalcore to deliver a single fans are going to go crazy for. Packed with tons of experimentation and emotion, this single has it all from melodies to hard hitting breakdowns. Solsic know exactly what they’re doing; clearly not afraid to mix it up from track to track and “Who Will You Blame” displays this beautifully. – Nathaniel Maure

Benzo Queen – Punks!

Sounding akin to someone lobbing a brick and a 2 litre bottle of joke into a washing machine, the new single from Bristolian noise merchants Benzo Queen is exactly 46 minutes of spit-and-synth speckled bedlam. It’s a whole lot of fun, but ridiculous and obtuse; but then what would you expect from a band with other songs such as ‘Laser Cut Dildo’ and ‘Shittin’ In A Storm’. – Dan Hillier

Shadow Of Intent – Flying the Black Flag

Sporting a ridiculously hard, almost black metal style cover, deathcore’s princes of grandiosity Shadow Of Intent have a belter of a new track out. Something to freshen their set up ahead of their tour with Fleshgod Apocalypse (fans of keyboards in America rejoice), ‘Flying The Black Flag’ is what we’ve come to expect from the band at this stage in their career. Groovy, catchy deathcore with blistering drums, it teases some violent pits and just begs for a chaotic light display live. By now, the band have made their bed in this corner of deathcore and in terms of scale and scope of their sound, are only bettered by Lorna Shore. As usual, it all leads up to a breakdown designed to curdle your eyeballs but immediately after the epic guitar solo makes you feel like you’re standing on the bow of a boat on your way to war. – Chris Earl

Hammok – One Minute

Not content with putting out one of the most underrated albums of the year in ‘Look How Long…’ the young Norwegian cross genre band, Hammok bring us new single ‘One Minute’. Leaning more into their post-punk toolbox with a less chaotic approach than their album. This is a fantastic pointer what the trio can deliver and proof that they are a band to keep an eye on. – Adam Vallely

The Liars Club – Tongues of Fools

The Liars Club are back with their tremendous new single ‘Tongues Of Fools’, a blisteringly obnoxious new offering from the band that sees them draw on their influences and play to their strengths. Frontman Leon Griff hones his experienced croon to deliver commanding vocals and showcases an impressive range. Confidence soars through the track itself and it feels like a band comfortable and at ease with having fun, playing with riffs and drawing upon their influences, like a groove metal Alice In Chains. The bounce in the song’s structure combines pummelling drum patterns with bold rapid riffs that swirl throughout the first two thirds of the song until a cleverly placed change of pace slows the tempo and formulates into a sludgy doom riff with more chug than a freshers week Friday night. The Liars Club have already managed to make a commendable dent on the South Wales metal scene and songs like ‘Tongues Of Fools’ are not only going to be brilliant staples in their live set, but will also support them to turn heads in the future. – Jac Holloway

falselove – Dreaming//Drowning

South Welsh melodic alt metallers falselove are back with their fourth single ‘Dreaming//Drowning’, a song that sees the band leaning into their post hardcore roots with a brooding intro and introspective opening verse that builds to an almighty crescendo around the halfway mark. The song blends ethereal ambience with soaring melody, not only showcasing vocalist Jacob Eynon’s range and ability but also seeing Eynon delve into raw and personal lyrical content. Eynon says on the track, “This is a really personal song for me, a song based around trying to keep afloat when everything is trying to drag you down. You take a stroll through my deepest and darkest thoughts and a bit of a flashback through my life”, and it sure does take a poignant turn delving through these feelings, also evoked brilliantly by the chaotic second half of the song that has instrumentation that compliments its tonal shift. ‘this time will haunt us’, the band’s debut EP is due to be released in October and will feature all four of the singles currently released as well as two additional songs. – Jac Holloway
