After turning heads with their uniquely danceable brand of mathy post rock, Leipzig/Dublin based duo Bicurious have launched a crowdfunding campaign to complete their second record. To help raise the necessary funds for the mixing, mastering and marketing of the record, the duo have unveiled a range of perks which include signed drumskins, merch bundles, personalised songs, workshops and even a show in your home.
“We’re incredibly excited about this album”, states Taran (vocals, guitar). “It’s new sonic territory for us, and we can’t wait for everyone to hear it. Unfortunately, being a DIY band, it’s not always easy to secure funds for recording, mixing and all the rest. We want to give this album the best chance of getting heard, which is why we’re calling upon our fans, friends and families to help out in any way they can. No amount is too small, and any help at all will go a long way. Our fanbase has been so incredible for us since we started this band, and we’re asking for their help once again. Let’s do this together!”
After becoming a dearly beloved staple of the UK, Irish and European post/math rock scene with the release of their 2018 EP I’m So Confused and their 2021 LP (re)constructed, Bicurious are just one of those rare bands that are essentially impossible not to love. Forgoing the stoicism often associated with the genre in favour for joy, fun danceable energy far removed from the stereotypes of the post-rock world, the duo are genuinely the sound of inspired innovation being driven with beaming smiles and are the kind of band that are just effortlessly endearing. It’s something those who have seen the band on their runs around the country or at events like ArcTanGent, Portals, Stangeforms will attest to, and a sentiment that will be echoed by new fans come the release of their new record.
The fundraiser for the Tom Peters (Alpha Male Tea Party, Vennart, Lakes) produced record closes in 60 days. See here for donations, further information and all the perks available.
