Live Review: Fit For An Autopsy, Ingested, Enterprise Earth, Great American Ghost, Sentinels | The Loft, Southampton | 10/05/22
A tour package that could not have come soon enough for the fans of heavy music in the UK and Europe, Fit For An Autopsy continued their touring of album number six alongside Ingested, Enterprise Earth, Great American Ghost, and Sentinels. FFAA hadn’t touched UK soil for a long time, was the wait worth it? Of course it was.
Sentinels
A five-band package is a great prospect and makes value for money undeniable in a time where the cost of just about anything is rising. As such, it was encouraging to see a good turnout as Sentinels, all the way from New Jersey, took the stage just 20 minutes after doors. Exhibiting a mature demeanour onstage, they clearly vibe with their own music and rightly so. The energy level was raised, attention of the crowd was gained and the set was very tight and very heavy. A great opening band with a very bright future ahead, they will certainly gain many new fans on this tour. Shoutout to Josh Davies of Monasteries for his short feature making some feral noises at the end too
Score: 7/10
Great American Ghost
Great American Ghost then took up instruments as the second band on the bill. Their energy was very good, notably their vocalist Ethan Harrison engaging with the audience and building atmosphere really well. A strong unit onstage delivering hard-hitting breakdowns, Great American Ghost are a fantastic live band.
Score: 7/10
Enterprise Earth
Enterprise Earth followed suit, a band that seemed to have many fans in the audience and not without cause. Their set was heavy, vocals were awesome, stage presence was top tier. This is a band certainly on the rise and one with a growing following too. Playing an unreleased track and with a new vocalist in Travis Worland, there was potential for issues in this set. However, Enterprise Earth stepped up to the mark and presented an impressive and enjoyable performance
Score: 8/10
Ingested
The main support slot was filled by UK Death Metal icons Ingested, a band that need little introduction. That said, for those who don’t know them, vocalist Jason Evans greets the audience on behalf of the band as ‘Kings of UK Death Metal’ as they click into gear. Blasting through tracks from their 2020 release ‘Where only Gods may tread’ intertwined with tracks from older albums and their recent single ‘Rebirth’, this was a very well-crafted and all-encompassing Ingested set. Their energy is always high, crowd control in the palm of their hand and songs played effortlessly as well, there is – as usual – very little not to love about this band. UK Death Metal is embodied well by this four-piece.
Score: 8/10
Fit For An Autopsy
The show now found itself with strong attendance and a heated atmosphere. The buzz of the music played in interludes dies down as four of the five Fit For An Autopsy members take the stage, ambience building as they begin their set with the title track of their 2022 release Oh What The Future Holds. Vocalist and all-round legend of the scene Joe Badolato steps up to the microphone and the headline set explodes into life. Ripping through the highlights of albums ‘The Sea of Tragic Beasts’, ‘The Great Collapse’ and ‘Absolute Hope, Absolute Hell’ alongside their recent release, this setlist had it all for Fit For An Autopsy fans. The crowd were engaged, the songs merged together to act as one block very well and the room was buzzing. Particular note to tracks ‘No Man Is Without Fear’ for its first live outing in the UK and ‘Hydra’ for its hypnotic audience engagement. Fit For An Autopsy know how to create and perform the highest quality of Deathcore and this tour displays that. They continue to rise to greatness and witnesses to their live offerings will have no doubts as to why, a true force to behold.
Score: 9/10
