Symphony of the Vanned – The Top 10 Songs On Dude Trips’ Tour Van Playlist

They've got 500 miles between them and this year's PWER Festival. Here's what Aberdeen’s prime emo export and self-proclaimed sad lads Dude Trips are blasting in the van to keep them sane.

Lull – Something In The Way

“On our last tour we played a show in Newcastle with Lull and we became fans and mates there and then. If you’re into hardcore then get this new single from them in your ears, ‘Something In The Way’ gives me a very nostalgic feeling. Also we may have some touring plans with em’ soon!”

Charlie Puth – Light Switch

“This is just a straight up jam, lifts a mood and always comes on the radio at work so it’s definitely going on the van playlist.”

Sleep Outside – Skeleton

“I remember maybe at the tail end of lockdown Sleep Outside came up on my Spotify. Lucky for us we’ll get to catch them at Pwer festival! Straight up emo vibes, buzzing to catch this one live.”

Treehouse – Seek

“Treehouse are on the Noizze stage and we only heard about them when Pwer announced the festival. So stoked to check them out so get down early. Big Departures vibes which is a great thing.”

Charli Adams – Seventeen Again feat. Novo Amor

“Probably my favourite song/album of 2021. This record hit me at the perfect time, feeling lost after the world went to shit. Just like everyone I was overthinking everything, if I’d get to play shows again. Even make music again. This one got me through so it’s definitely on the van playlist. If you like Phoebe Bridgers then you’ll love Charli Adams. Also Novo Amor is a genius.”

Sea Girls – Damage Done

“This banger takes me back to our ’Through Love & Death’ 2019 UK tour. It must’ve been played about 100 times in the van. At the end of that tour a couple of us went to Trnsmt festival to see Sea Girls & more thinking we’d get tickets on the day. Oh how we were wrong, We spent 5 hours outside the festival trying to blag tickets and resorting to Twitter for any re-sales. We got one so I told shaun to go in and I’ll meet him later or catch him in the morning. My phone died and I was about to walk back to Mitch’s flat until a girl gave me her spare ticket. Got in and within 10 minutes I found Shaun at the bar with 4 pints. Good times.”

Muttering – Swim

“I’m getting exposed to more new bands since going back and playing gigs, we played with muttering on our latest tour and they absolutely smashed it. You can really hear the level of musicianship in their songs and this is my favourite one of theirs.”

Oversize – Spin

“I just found out about oversize recently and I’ve been really enjoying their latest EP ‘In Balance’. The production on their stuff is amazing and I really enjoy their song writing.”

Kilgour – My Parents Car

“Kilgour are one of the many amazing bands coming out of Glasgow right now. This song is definitely one of my favourites, this one get’s really loud towards the end and I love the guitar tones on it!”

Weed – Silent Partner

“Weed have really interesting and creative style of song writing. They have a real noisy sound and capture a really cool vibe with their songs.”
